This work is part of Bjarne Bare's solo exhibition 'Latent Eclipse' at OSL contemporary, 2026. It is an extension of his ongoing investigation of photography and technological infrastructures by placing nature as a counterpoint to what is lost in the pursuit of progress. Bjarne Bare (b. 1985, Poznan, Poland) holds a BFA from the Oslo Academy of Fine Art and an MFA from University of California, Los Angeles. He works with photography as a critical, conceptual practice, examining the medium's material, technological, and institutional conditions. Through abstraction, layering, and symbolic reframing, Bare highlights photography's instability, treating the image not as a fixed object but as a provisional proposition shaped by systems of production, circulation, and perception. His work explores technology, nature, and human relations as deeply entangled forces. Bare's practice has been presented internationally and is represented in the permanent collections of institutions including the National Museum of Norway and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

OSL contemporary was established in 2011 by Emilie Magnus. Located in Oslo’s vibrant West End, the gallery has since developed an extensive program, currently representing twenty-three emerging and established artists encompassing a diverse range of disciplines. With the focused initiative to nurture the artists’ positions within the Nordic region and promote their practice to a wider global audience, the gallery works closely with local institutions and museums whilst continuously engaging and participating in projects, exhibitions, and art fairs internationally.
